Indian Musical Instruments Family Workshop
9/12/2007 - Indian Musical Instruments Family Workshop
The Education Division of the San Bernardino County Museum will offer a family workshop where participants will learn more about the Serrano Indians by making traditional musical instruments. The Indian Musical Instrument family workshop will be on Saturday, September 15, from 9:00am to noon. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, September 12 at 4:30pm, as space is limited.
You may not recognize the music of the Serrano people, but you will certainly love making some of their rhythmic music with instruments that you have made yourself at this workshop, said Jolene Redvale, Curator of Education. All participants will make and decorate a shell rattle, clapper stick, and gourd rattles to take home. The whole family will have a good time making and playing these instruments together.
The workshop cost of $5 per person or $10 for a whole family includes activity materials and museum general admission fees. Registration forms are available on the museums web site, www.sbcountymuseum.org and at the museums front desk. For more information, call (909) 307-2669 ext. 271.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org.
