Technical Services

Technical Services is responsible for all of the technology relating to the computer systems within the Sheriff’s Department. The unit also provides direct end-user support, ongoing maintenance/enhancements and upgrades to Department-wide systems.

Technical Services consists of the following work groups:

  • Systems Support/Networking includes CAD Support, RMS Support, MDS (Mobile), CLETS Support, Emerging Technologies, ARS Support, GIS, Presynct, Coplink, LiNX, Networking/Security and Disaster Recovery.
  • Service Support/Application Development includes System Administration, Application Development and Support, Service Desk, Server Support, Jail Support, Field Support , Budget/Fiscal/Contracts/Grants, and Inventory & Order Processing.
  • Desert Support includes Service Desk Support for the High Desert areas.
  • Technology in today’s market place is designed to be obsolete in a short period of time. Understanding this short life cycle and developing systems and methods to outlast it, are amongst the unit’s highest priorities. Identifying truly useful, long-term technologies, as opposed to adopting the latest trend, will be important to this end.

A key goal of Technical Services is to renew the emphasis on providing technology that promotes the safety of law enforcement personnel. The increased efficiency that technology provides means that deputies are making more effective use of their time in the field.
