Vision: Desert Area

We’re developing an updated San Bernardino County General Plan that will be based on our shared community vision. It will look ahead to 2025—guiding our future decisions about growth, public investment and our quality of life.

The first phase of this project was developing a statement about our vision of the future. We explored what we want to create for our children, our grandchildren and ourselves. When you think about the future of the Desert Region, what is important to you? Some issues we considered are:

• How to balance urban & rural land uses.
• Strategies for economic development and job growth.
• Infrastructure needs, such as roads, sewers, water supply and flood control.
• How to use and conserve natural resources wisely

We're encouraging every person who lives or works in the County to participate in updating the Plan, in whatever method is most comfortable for you. You’ll have other opportunities to share your issues, opportunities, hopes and fears for the future—and help shape our updated General Plan.
