San Bernardino County Children Network’s Annual “Shine a Light on Child Abuse” awarded our Social Worker Asia Williamson for her work with our kids in placement. |

Community Outreach – Women’s Health Faire 2010
On March 6 we participated in Public Health’s annual Women and Children’s Health Faire at the Victorville fairgrounds by manning a table, handing out literature and answering questions from the public. Our department donated a stroller and car seat for the Faire’s raffle. |

4th Annual State of the Office Meeting
On March 17, 2010 Public Defender staff from all over the county attended the 4th Annual State of the Office Meeting and discussed our successes, as well as our challenges and opportunities for the coming year. |

Administrative Office Open House and Training Room Dedication
On December 1, 2009 we held our Open House commemorating the completion and opening of our new Administration office, and to name our state of the art training room after Joseph D. Canty, a veteran Deputy Public Defender who passed away in June 2007. |

Board Resolution
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors commemorated the Public Defender's 50th Anniversary with a Board Resolution recognizing our important work. Since 1959 the Public Defender has handled more than 1.27 million cases. |

Community Outreach Efforts
The Public Defender extends a helping hand in community outreach programs. Our recent efforts helped hundreds of community members close minor old matters that had been preventing them from obtaining employment, education and developing as productive citizens. |

Chaffey Resolution
Chaffey Joint Union High School District Superintendent Matthew Holton presented a Certificate of Appreciation for the Public Defender's "commitment to the education of our students in the criminal justice system and their constitutional rights..." |

Misdemeanor Trials Increased
Between fiscal years 2005-2006 and 2007-2008, the Department tripled the number of jury trials completed by our misdemeanor Deputy Public Defenders. |

New Deputy Public Defenders On September 20, 2007, the largest training class graduated the New Deputy Training. These new, highly trained defenders eagerly began their courtroom duties on September 21, 2007. |
