The Research, Analysis, and Vital Statistics (RAVS) unit is responsible for the collection
and processing of state mandated health data, including births and deaths. RAVS
consists of an administrative program manager who is responsible for the daily
operations of the statistical unit. This section is also comprised of three statistical analysts who analyze and interpret health data for programs within the Department of Public Health, as well as various community-based organizations, state and federal government agencies, the media, and the public. As steward of the data, RAVS is responsible to ensure the data is used appropriately and that the confidentiality and privacy of individuals are protected and maintained without exception.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Research, Analysis, and Vital Statistics unit is to improve and
protect the health of San Bernardino County residents through research of public
health issues, timely and accurate registration of births and deaths, and analysis of
health data. These activities enable the public, policy makers, and health agencies
to make informed decisions.
