Asthma CARE Program
The Coordinated Asthma Referral and Education (CARE) Program provides services that improve the lives of children living with asthma in the West End and Central Valley regions of San Bernardino County.
Facts about asthma:
- Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that affects persons of all ages.
- Asthma cannot be cured but symptoms can be controlled with medications, and by avoiding triggers that set off an asthma attack.
- Asthma symptoms may include wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing.
The purpose of the CARE program is to:
- Help parents and children learn how to control and manage asthma as a family effort, and
- Raise awareness in schools and in the community on the importance of early diagnosis, prevention, and asthma control.
To qualify for CARE services, your child:

Must be diagnosed with asthma,
- Must be 18 years old or younger, and
- Live in San Bernardino County.
Families will receive:
- Free home visits that include a home assessment for asthma triggers and education, and
- Free asthma management aids such as cleaning supplies, mattress and pillow covers.
