Calico Ghost Town Regional Park

Calico, located near Barstow, is a fully restored 60-acre town site. Once a bustling mining community, Calico Ghost Town became a California historic monument in 1973 during its Spring Festival, held on Mother’s Day weekend each year. Because of its historic and scenic recreation of the old west, Calico’s streets host television and movie crews from around the world.

Within the town limits you can find a 1880s sweets shop, operating saloon, full-service restaurant, playhouse, leather goods store and much more. A main Calico attraction is a trip down into an actual mineshaft.

If you enjoy camping, the narrow canyons below Calico offer full hookups and an off-highway vehicle camping area with restrooms and showers. Calico is open year-round except Christmas day. Its hours are 7 a.m. to dusk. Shops, the playhouse and railroad are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
