History Archives Photo Index Help
The Archives Photo Index (finding aid) lists the types of photographs that
may be accessed in the SBCM Inland Empire Archival Heritage Center. Users may
search the index for the names of people, organizations, places, institutions,
events, and objects.
Queries of the databases operate by searching collection records for any string
of characters entered in the Search Terms box. Search terms are not case
sensitive.
Search Term entered. Example: Enter only last name when
searching for a person or family. (Enter Brown, not Joseph Brown). Enter
only city name, not city and state. (Enter Colton, not Colton, CA). The
search can then be refined when the user examines the search results. Use
Search Terms in the Singular form, not plural. Example: Use
airplane, not airplanes.
Partial Terms may be entered in the Search Term box. Example:
Entering the term
rodri in a search will return records of the names
Rodrigues,
Rodriguez,
Rodrick,
Rodriquez.
Multiple Terms may be entered in the Search Term box, separated by a
space. Example: Entering the terms
Rialto school
will return all records containing those terms, such as records referring to
Rialto High
School and
Rialto Flight
School. (This
is an "AND" search.)
To Narrow the Search, view the results of the first search. Then reenter
more exact terms in the Search Term box. Example: Searching for
Rialto school yields 93 listings, but a subsequent search for Rialto Flight
School yields only 3 listings.
When the user finds a record listed in the database it indicates that images of
that subject are housed in the Archival Heritage Center. For more
information about the subject, or to receive help in ordering copies of images,
please contact the curator,
mnielsen@sbcm.sbcounty.gov or telephone 909-307-2669 ext. 240.
NOTE:
The online database only represents a portion of the collections. More data
will be made available through frequent updates of this database. The intent of
the online index at this point in time is simply to demonstrate the breadth of
the collections. Researchers should direct queries concerning collections to
the curatorial staff for more complete information. Also note that electronic
collections data are only proxies for actual objects. Although the database is
regularly checked for quality its accuracy is not guaranteed. If you notice an
error or omission, or for further information, please contact the curator,
