4/2/2016 - Museum set to break Guinness world record

Museum to Kick off Annual Train Days Event with Largest Soul Train Dance

The San Bernardino County Museum has announced that the Guinness World Record organization has officially accepted the museums application to achieve the worlds Largest Soul Train Dance. This record-breaking event will take place on Saturday, April 2 at 11a.m. to open the popular week-long Train Days. The museum will need to gather 427 dancing participants to beat the previous record of 426 set in 2014 at Arizonas Goodyear Ballpark.

No experience in line dancing or doing the Locomotion is required, and all ages are encouraged to participate in the dance.

Dancing is one of the most joyful, social activities on the planet, and we want to show the rest of the world the joy that represents San Bernardino County. We need to have everyone dancing at the same time for the record to count, said Museum Director Melissa Russo. Well be organizing everyone in the Museums Courtyard starting around 10:15 a.m. to start the music at 11 sharp. Seniors, parents, students, toddlers, babes-in-armseverybody counts.

The San Bernardino County Museum Association will be hosting a members breakfast just before the Soul Train Dance. Maggie Latimer, the Associations Executive Director said, What better way to kick off Train Days than by joining 450 other people doing the Locomotion? Were asking all our museum members to participate, and we want to make sure we have everyone from the community along for the fun and for the record!

A special promotion including admission discounts and free T-shirts is offered to everyone who commits to helping break the record by making a reservation on the museums website at www.sbcounty.gov/museum. Train Days will run April 2 April 10 and is included with general admission. Participants in the Soul Train Dance can enjoy a 50 percent discount on admission by using the promo code DANCE.
