Love in Nature at the County Museum
2/14/2016 - Love in Nature at the County Museum
Event date: Feb. 14, 2016
Valentines Day is a time to celebrate relationships. But its not just humans whose hearts grow fonder. Many animals form lasting monogamous partnerships. Scientists call this pair bonding. This Valentines Day the San Bernardino County Museum celebrates Love in Nature as a Family FunSunday. Activities are scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 14.
Kids and families can engage in Valentine Day arts and crafts and discover some surprising facts about animal pair bonds. Swans, who chose a lifetime mate, are traditional symbols of love, but did you know that barn owls form lasting pair bonds? There are more monogamous animals than you might guess, including gibbons, wolves, albatrosses, bald eagles, and termites!
Family FunSundays and the County Museums other exciting events and exhibits reflect the effort by the Board of Supervisors to achieve the Countywide Vision by celebrating arts, culture, and education in the county, creating quality of life for residents and visitors.
Family FunSunday activities are included with paid museum admission. The San Bernardino County Museum is at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child aged 5 to 12).
