Museum visitors can travel back in time

This fall, San Bernardino County Museum visitors can travel back in time to enjoy work and play in the 1880s.

“Work and Play in the 1880s is our most popular school program,” said Jolene Redvale, Curator of Education. “We have teachers and schools return year after year. The program connects students to life in the past through interactive stations. They get to try out housecleaning, cooking, using tools and playing with toys – all without electricity!”

This year, the Education Division staff invites the public to join in the fun. Programs are scheduled on select dates through December, and start times vary. All program activities are included with paid museum admission.

“We still have dates open for classes in grades 3, 4, and 5. Families and homeschoolers interested in attending should call ahead to get the program times,” said Redvale. Programs are scheduled for October 22, 25, 30; November 7, 12, 15, 20; and December 5, 11, 13. Contact Museum Educator Carla Rosenkild at 909-798-8611 or crosenkild@sbcm.sbcounty.gov for information and program times.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sb countymuseum.org. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. If assistive listening devices or other auxiliary aids are needed in order to participate in museum exhibits or programs, requests should be made through Museum Visitor Services at least three business days prior to your visit.
