County Museum Trip to Pacific Asia Museum
Michele Nielsen, curator of history at the San Bernardino County Museum, will lead a day trip to the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena on Friday, February 8. Participants will travel by luxury motor coach, enjoy a docent-led tour of the galleries, and enjoy a luncheon at Café 140 South. The trip will convene at the county museum in Redlands at 8:15 a.m. and will return by approximately 4:30 p.m. A fee of $80 ($70 for members of the San Bernardino County Museum Association) includes transportation, lunch, and all admission fees. Advance reservations are required by January 28 and space is limited.
The museum tour will encompass temporary exhibits including “The Garden in Asia,” “Kimono in the Twentieth Century,” and “The Art of Continuity: Revering Our Elders” along with permanent exhibits related to the arts of Korea and decorative and folk art of Pacific Asia.
“The Pacific Asia Museum building and grounds, including the tranquil courtyard garden, have a fascinating history and feature classic Chinese architectural elements,” said Nielsen. “The temporary and permanent exhibits within the museum represent the multicultural history of Asia and the Pacific Islands, a history that is an integrative part of the history of Southern California and influences our collective story today.”
This day trip is organized by the San Bernardino County Museum Association. To make reservations, call (909) 307-2669 ext. 250. Children must be accompanied by responsible adults.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. For more information, visit
