Moon Party at the Asistencia
Members of the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers will set up their telescopes at the Asistencia in Redlands on Tuesday evening, October 23, 2012 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Club members will bring several sizes and types of telescopes, ranging from refractors to reflectors to ‘compound’ optics. This annual Moon Party at the Asistencia is free to the public and suitable for all ages.
“We’ll have a first-quarter moon to observe,” said Chris Clarke, program coordinator for the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers. “This phase of the moon offers incredible, three-dimensional views of the mountains, craters, and valleys seen at lunar sunrise.”
The Asistencia, a San Bernardino County Museum historic site, is at 26930 Barton Road in Redlands. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org. This program is accessible to persons with disabilities. If assistive listening devices or other auxiliary aids are needed in order to participate in museum exhibits or programs, requests should be made through Museum Visitor Services at least three business days prior to your visit. Visitor Services’ telephone number is 909-307-2669 ext. 229 or (TDD) 909-792-1462.
