Instrument Petting Zoo at Victor Valley Museum
Come to the zoo—the instrument petting zoo—as a part of the new Discovery Afternoons program at the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley. Children and adults can join Paul Starks and his musical instrument friends on Saturday, September 22 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm in the museum’s community room. Discovery Afternoons are offered at half the price of regular museum admission.
Museum visitors can try out a variety of musical instruments and chat with people who enjoy playing them, and then enjoy a fifteen minute mini concert and create a simple shaker to take home to play.
"Music is such a wonderful art form, a universal language, something that everyone can enjoy,” said Michele Nielsen, curator of history at the San Bernardino County Museum. “Children and adults alike can learn more about instruments by trying them out for themselves in a fun, informal atmosphere. This is a great way to encourage very young children to express themselves musically. Look for Miss Kathy's story time and more afternoon concerts coming soon, as a part of our Discovery Afternoons activities, sponsored by a generous donor to our museum."
