Astronomy Day at Night at the County Museum
Be prepared to see far off worlds through a variety of amateur telescopes! Explore the rugged features of the moon as we view mountains, craters and valleys at optimum lighting conditions with striking three-dimensional vistas of the lunar terrain. See the planet Venus as a crescent shaped body as she swings around the sun in her orbit. See the bright polar cap of the “red planet,” Mars and then experience the serene beauty and wonder of Saturn’s rings. All this awaits the curious who attend a fun public telescope viewing session at the San Bernardino County Museum to celebrate “Astronomy Day at Night.”
Members of the San Bernardino Valley Amateur Astronomers will set up their telescopes at the museum in Redlands on Saturday evening, April 28, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Club members will bring several sizes and types of telescopes, ranging from refractors to reflectors to ‘compound’ optics. This event, suitable for all ages, is free to the public.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. Parking is free. For more information, visit
www.sb countymuseum.org. The museum is accessible to persons with disabilities. If assistive listening devices or other auxiliary aids are needed in order to participate in museum exhibits or programs, requests should be made through Museum Visitor Services at least three business days prior to your visit.
