Webelo badge program added at County Museum
A badge workshop in Geology for Webelo scouts has been added to the roster of badge programs for Cubs, Webelos, and Boy Scouts at the San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands. The Geology workshop is scheduled for Sunday, April 22 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This workshop meets the requirements for the Geologist Activity Badge and the Academic Belt Loop and Pin. The cost is $13 per Webelo, with parents and siblings $10 each. Workshop fees include museum admission for that day. Registrations will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, unless the workshop fills up sooner.
“The County Museum is a great place for boys to earn badges because we have the ‘real stuff’ available,” said Nancy Kirkwood, museum educator and Merit Badge Counselor. “We have real scientists here who help us with the latest information in their areas, plus we are surrounded by real specimens and real artifacts.”
Additional workshops are scheduled this spring at the museum. For Boy Scouts, May 5 is an all-day Bird Study workshop and field trip ($38 per scout). On May 12, Wolf Cubs have Native American Life from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and a Bear Cubs workshop on Native American Lore is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The cost for each May 12 badge workshop is $13 per scout, $10 per parent or sibling, which includes museum admission.
These badge workshops are not drop-in programs; preregistration is required. Visit the museum’s website at www.sbcountymuseum.org
and click on Scout Programs to download the registration form, pick up the registration form at the museum, or contact Nancy Kirkwood, workshop leader, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call (909) 307-2669 ext. 271 and leave a message with the scout’s first and last name and contact phone. Registration forms will be accepted at the museum until the workshops are full.
