The San Bernardino County Museum will host a book discussion in its Reading Discoveries program on Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30pm. The group will discuss “Songbird Journeys,” by Miyoko Chu. This discussion is free to the public, including those who haven’t yet read the book.
“Birds are all around us. We can see them, and we can hear them during the day, and all year round. But different birds impress us with their behavior and their songs in different seasons. Where do birds go in the opposite season? How do they know how to get there? What happens along the way? This book combines ornithology research and popular bird lore to present readers with a fascinating look at songbirds, the amazing ebb and flow of migration, the cycle of seasons, and the interconnectedness between distant places,” said Jolene Redvale, museum curator of education and the discussion facilitator.
A field and travel guide in one, Songbird Journeys offers insight for avid birders as well as the armchair naturalist. For more information of the book, with a video presentation by the author, visit http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/studying/migration/sbj
The Reading Discoveries book discussion group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30pm, and is open to the public free of charge. For more information, contact Jolene Redvale at (909) 307-2669 ext. 252 or e-mail
