On Friday, September 18 at 2pm, Curator of History Michele Nielsen will give a gallery walk, “First-hand: Personal Recollections,” in the San Bernardino County Museum’s Crossroads of History galleries.
Nielsen will invite visitors to examine and explore diaries, journals, interviews, and notes from as far as back as 125 years ago. “What better way to find out more about the past than to hear or read first-hand accounts from those who actually lived it,” said Nielsen. “These first-hand sources of journals, artworks, and interviews, will be used to create 8 individual story areas in our new Point of View Gallery. Come and find out about ‘bird man’ Wilson Hanna–the gentleman responsible for collecting and obtaining the majority of eggs and nests that are a part of the museum’s permanent collections. And discover Elias Everritt, the Redlands photographer with an ability to capture the souls of his subjects in his images.”
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 am to 5pm. General admission is $8 (adult), $6 (military or senior), $5 (student), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free. Parking is free.
