The San BernardinoCountyMuseum in Redlands is open to the public free of charge from 9am to 5pm on Sunday, July 5. Free admission is sponsored by the San Bernardino County First District.
Visitors will enjoy special exhibits as well as displays of specimens and artifacts that interpret local history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and biological sciences in regional context. Special exhibits are “Gadgets and Gizmos: inventing the modern world” and “The Art of Ramón Contreras and the Mexican Muralists Movement.”
The Exploration Station live animal gallery will be open from 1 to 4pm. Outdoor exhibits include native plant and cactus gardens, a steam locomotive and caboose, mining and lumbering equipment, heritage orange groves, and sculpture.
From 3 to 4:30pm, the Buffalo Blues Band will perform in the Hall of Geological Wonders amphitheatre. Playing blues, rock and roll, R and B, and country, the group consists of Robert Shepherd (vocals and guitar), Clayton Crawford (lead guitar), Gary Wehgorst (drums), Jeffrey Wilson (bass), Kathy Ogren (vocals), Lynn Berkeley Krantz (vocals), and Tim “Blues” Hughes (harp).
The San BernardinoCountyMuseum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open from 9am to 5pm. Everyone is admitted free on Sunday, July 5. Parking is free. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org.
