Families will enjoy games that their great-grandparents played when they were young at the museum?s Education Center. Everyone can play hop-scotch, talk on a tin can telephone, and learn jump rope songs. Children will also be able to make a whirly gig and ?singing? button to take home. Organized by the education division, families are invited to play from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., First 5 California?s ?Hands-On Health? van will be at the museum courtyard featuring ?Nutrition Olympics,? where they will offer free pre-school and kindergarten backpacks, free school supplies, and free healthy snacks. Games and activities will increase awareness about the importance of children?s healthy development.
In addition to exhibits of cultural and natural history relating to inland Southern California and the southwest, visitors will be able to see special exhibits including ?Living on the Edge: natural disasters in San Bernardino County,? ?Five Suns: the art of ancient Mesoamerica,? and ?Through the Looking Glass.?
