On Saturday, August 11, San Bernardino County Museum Curator of Anthropology Adella Schroth will host a field trip to the San Bernardino Mountains. Registration for this trip is open now.
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Unity and Cultural Awareness Program Director James Ramos will lead this trip, taking participants to several sites that reveal Serrano creation story. He will discuss the beginning of Yuhaviatam, the People of the Pines, and their special relationship with the mountains.
The trip will leave the museum at 8:00 a.m. and return about 5:00 p.m. The cost of $25 per person ($20 for Museum association members) includes transportation, morning coffee, light snacks, and water.
There will be a lot of walking, so participants are advised to wear sturdy and comfortable shoes, bring a bag of lunch, a sun hat, and sunscreen.
