Indian Toys and Tools Family Workshop
The education division at the San Bernardino County Museum will offer a workshop that invites families to experience how the local Indians lived, worked, and played years ago. “Indian Toys and Tools Family Workshop” is scheduled on Saturday, September 23 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The workshop cost of $5 per person or $10 for a whole family includes activity materials and museum general admission fees. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, September 20.
Activities in the workshop will include grinding corn with a real mano and metate, learning how Indians made yucca cordage, and winding your own rope. Everyone will assemble and decorate a gourd rattle using authentic Indian designs. Participants will also be able to test their hand-eye coordination after they make their own hoop-and-stick game.
Registration forms are available on the museum’s web site, www.sbcountymuseum.org and at the museum’s front desk. For more information, call (909) 307-2669 ext. 271.
