Family Fun Day at County Museum
Families will enjoy some hands-on experience with pottery at the Family Fun Day scheduled at the San Bernardino County Museum on Saturday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities, designed for families with children aged 3 to 12, are free with museum admission.
“We’ll be looking at our newest exhibit, ‘Pottery from the Pueblos,’ for inspiration,” said Museum Educator Nancy Kirkwood. “Then visitors will have a chance to decorate pottery themselves, using their own interpretations of traditional Native American designs.”
“Pottery from the Pueblos” is a special exhibit in the museum’s Native American Traditions series, sponsored in part by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. In addition to the July 22 Family Fun Day, other family programs scheduled include two different workshops where participants will make their own “Indian Toys and Tools,” on July 29 and September 23. The Serrano Creation story will be the topic of special field trips to Serrano Indian sites in the San Bernardino Mountains on August 19 and October 7. For more information about these programs, call the museum’s Education Division at (909) 307-2669 ext. 256.
