Free Sunday at the County Museum
The San Bernardino County Museum invites the public to visit the museum with no admission fee on Sunday, October 1. Visitors will enjoy programs and special exhibits as well as displays of specimens and artifacts that interpret local history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and biological sciences in regional context. The free day is sponsored by Yum Yum Family Restaurant in San Bernardino.
Demonstrations of hand weaving by members of the Handweavers Guild will be ongoing from noon to 2:00 p.m. The guild is part of the Western Textile Center Association, an affiliate of the county museum.
“Super Stars!” is the theme of Sunday’s Family Fun Day. Explore the stars and constellations in StarLab, the museum’s inflatable planetarium. Hear some stories that different cultures tell about the stars. StarLab show times are 11:00 and 11:45 a.m. and 12:30, 1:15, 2:00, 2:45, and 3:30 p.m. The thirty-minute shows are free, but seating is limited to the first 25 participants for each program. The Super Stars show is especially developed for families and adults and may not be meaningful for children age 4 and under. Free timed tickets will be available at the Museum’s front desk starting at 10:00 a.m.
Special exhibits at the museum include the Fine Arts Institute Annual Open Exhibition in the Fisk Gallery; “Working for a Living” in the Schuiling Gallery, “Native American Traditions: Pottery from the Pueblos,” and “Underneath It All: Fitting into Fashion” in the Hall of History.
