Fantastic Fossils at the County Museum
“Fantastic Fossils” is the theme of a San Bernardino County Museum Family Fun Day on Sunday, April 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Family Fun Day activities are free, and museum admission is free on April 2.
“People are fascinated by fossils,” said Nancy Kirkwood, museum educator. “During ‘Fantastic Fossils’ we’ll answer some common questions. What do fossils tell us about the past? How are they formed? What are some different kinds of fossils? Participants will also make plaster casts of fossils to take home.”
Family Fun Days are designed for parents and grandparents with children ages 3 to 12. Activities are led by the museum education division and volunteers from the Museum Youth Club.
Also scheduled for the April 2 free Sunday is a 2 p.m. lecture about bird migration, “Birds, Economy, and the Gas Pump,” by Museum Director Robert McKernan. Special displays of historical photographs from the county’s Fourth District will also be on view.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. Museum admission is free on Sunday, April 2. For more information, visit www.sbcountymuseum.org or call (909) 307-2669.
