FOSSILS
Students of all ages will be amazed by the quality of the fossil replicas available in this kit. Because the specimens are replicas, they may be handled by inquisitive students. Students’ natural fascination with dinosaurs will be greatly augmented when they are introduced to this remarkable kit. California content Standards indicate that this kit is particularly appropriate for seventh grade.
Contents include:
Fossil replicas, lifelike, 1:1 scale: Nanosaurous rex foot print cast; saber tooth cat tooth; baby mastodon jaw; mini-dinosaur skull; duckbill coprolite; duckbill skin cast; Tyrannosaurus rex skull; Tyrannosaurus rex tooth; Tyrannosaurus rex brain; dinosaur toe bone; tar. Similar fossil replicas may be included.

Fossils and Prehistoric Life, Milliken Publishing, with 12 full-color transparencies (see above) and matching teaching units with reproducible worksheets and assessments. Written for grades 4/5-9, the book discusses the formation of fossils, the geological time scale in general, carboniferous swamp life, and life in individual eras.
Fossil, Eyewitness Books. The story of fossils in close-up – how they are formed and what they reveal about life on ancient Earth

LEARNING STYLES ADDRESSED by FOSSILS INCLUDE:
Visual-spatial – The kit contains many visual features including fossil specimen replicas, illustrated books and full-color, in-depth transparencies. Visual learners will enjoy painting their fossil molds realistically.
Verbal-linguistic – Shared orally or in written format, background information provides much detail.
Physical-kinesthetic – The opportunity for tactile learners to handle the realistic fossil replicas will encourage learning in this group. Mold casting is another means for tactile learners to succeed.
Logical-mathematical – These learners will be fascinated with the time-frame numbers. They should be able to adjust water/plaster ratios with ease.
Interpersonal – Students will find many things to discuss and share. The activities are appropriate for group work.
Solitary-intrapersonal – The intrapersonal learner can learn by reading or solitary projects work
