Adult Literacy Program

If you or someone you know would like to learn to read, write, or spell better, visit the Adelanto Branch Library or call 760-246-5661. Tutors  for the library's adult literacy program can provide confidential one-on-one tutoring in reading, writing, spelling skills, and more. Instructional material is provided by Hi-D.A.R.E., which organizes and raises funds for efforts to promote adult literacy in the High Desert.


Discovery Time

Join us for this awesome program where we explore the wonderful world of science through wonderfully messy projects. Come prepared to get your hands dirty!


Tiny Hoppers

Bring you little ones as we sing and move with fun songs, props, and finger plays.  Then wind down as we enjoy our favorite stories.  The purpose of this course it to inspire interaction between toddler and parent through participatory songs and wonderful books.  This course will be focused on the development of gross motor skills, following directions, body awareness and a sense of rhythm.


Preschool Storytime

Join us for this wonderfully fun and engaging storytime where amazing books meet songs, rhymes, puppets and more. The developmental skills this course focuses on are letter ecognition, print motivation, listening skills, and narrative skills.


Teen Craft

Take time from you busy schedule to make something for yourself or a friend. Either way, in this program you will make an array of crafts from things you can wear to things for your room. The fun starts on May 4 and June 1 at 1 p.m.


Sit, Stay, Read

Join us for this wonderful program on the first Wednesday of the month when you can practice your reading skills on a nonjudgemental listener: dogs! Therapy dogs come into our library to listen to you reader, and boy do they love hearing stories.


Volunteer Orientation

If you are interested in getting involved in your library, consider volunteering! The library is seeking volunteers ages 14 and up. Gain valuable customer service, organizational and team work experience.

The next two required orientations are on May 18 and June 15 at 1 p.m. Please stop by the library or call, 760-246-5661, for more information.


Teen Council

If you love our programs but want to have a say in what projects, movies and games we host in our library, then this is group for you. Join us on May 18 at  1 p.m. as we put our heads together (not literally) to gather ideas for future programs.


Game On!

Join us on for this social program where teens can come and play to your hearts' content... at least until the program is over! Whether it's board games, video games, or even group games... one thing is guaranteed: you'll have lots of fun! Be here May 25 and June 8 at 1 p.m.


SRP Volunteer Orientation

Get involved this summer by becoming a volunteer for the library's Summer Reading Program! The library's holding an orientation on June 29 at 1 p.m. for those interested in helping out this summer.


Basic Computer Classes

Learn about computer parts, how to navigate the Internet and use E-Mail, and get hands-on practice with Microsoft Word during the librarys's six-week course.

 

All classes are free at the Adelanto Library, every Wednesday at 11 a.m. For more information and appointments, ask at the Circulation Desk.


Volunteer tutoring at the library

The library's adult literacy program is looking for volunteers who can teach reading, writing and math. No previous teaching experience is required, and training is available.

With basic literacy skills, you can make a profound difference in the life of another person by becoming a literacy tutor. If you'd like to help, please stop by the library's reference desk or e-mail adelit[at]lib.sbcounty.gov.


Citizenship Classes

Thinking of becoming a U.S. citizen? Classes covering the tests that are taken on the path to U.S. citizenenship are held Saturdays at 9 a.m. For more information, please contact the library at 760-246-5661.
