On April 12, get ready to “Drop Everything And Read!” at the Library.
 Wednesday, April 12, 2006 has been proclaimed National “Drop Everything And Read!” Day. This day is set aside to encourage families to designate a special time to “drop everything and read” for at least 30 minutes without distractions.The Highland Library is celebrating “DEAR” Day by giving away a free book and prize to every child who comes into the library and reads for 30 minutes. Celebrate Young People’s Poetry Week At the Library 
Young People’s Poetry Week, as a part of National Poetry Month, will be celebrated the week ofApril 10-16, 2006. To encourage kids to celebrate poetry, the Highland Library will give a free book and bookmark to any child who participates in one of two poetry activities.
1.  
Copy a favorite poem from an author of your choice and draw an illustration to go with it.
2.
