"Brats for Books" & "All About Cars Book Sale" return!
Highland LibrarySeptember 18 to 21
Attention all brats fans: the Johnsonville "Big Taste Grill" is back! Buy a brat for $3, and all profits go to new books and materials for the county’s 30 branch libraries! Visit the Big Taste Grill in the court house parking lot at the southeast corner of 3rd and Arrowhead. The San Bernardino County Friends of the Library will host a used book sale devoted to cars and things that go, one day only, in front of the Library Administration building at 104 W 4th St. at Sierra Way, Saturday the 20th, 9 am to 9 pm.

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month
Smartest CardKIDS AND TEENS…This September, the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries throughout the country will celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month. It is a time when libraries remind parents and caregivers to bring their school-age children to the library to get the most important school supply of all – a library card. Visit your local branch library during the month of September and apply for and receive a new library card. Ask to be entered into the drawing for your very own ALA-style READ poster, featuring your picture, with you holding your favorite library book!

Read the Newly Published 2007-2008 Annual Report
Annual report coverThe San Bernardino County Library's 2007-2008 Annual Report is now available as an Adobe Acrobat Reader file. The year saw record increases in patron visits and items in circulation, as well as three all-new facilities and one extensive remodel. Your library hosted over 3.8 million visits and over 700,000 computer sessions. The cover photo shows some of the thousands of opening-day visitors at the Fontana Lewis Library and Technology Center. View information and other photos about the new facilites, including the Lewis Library, the Highland Sam J. Racadio Library and Environmental Learning Center, the Mentone Senior Center and Library, and the renovated and expanded Loma Linda Library.

Highland’s Solar Electric System is a huge success!!
Highland LibraryCheck out the Highland Sam J. Racadio Library and Environmental Learning Center’s solar panel productivity measured in real time. The data shows accumulated energy, in watt-hours, used or generated every hour throughout the day. The GREEN bars represent the amount of energy generated by the solar electric system. Since April 17, 2008 the system has generated 16,647 kWh of energy, which is equivalent to powering 331 homes in one day, and avoided 22, 750 lbs. of greenhouse gases.
