Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC)

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a premier health care facility, offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for children and adults of all ages in the area’s newest and most technologically advanced hospital. The Medical Center is one of the busiest in California, servicing more than 120,000 annual emergency department visits, 250,000 outpatient visits and 27,000 admissions. ARMC has 456 licensed beds, most of them private. The Medical Center is fully accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), demonstrating it has met the standards set forth by HFAP to provide high quality care and compliance with governmental regulations.
Founded in 1855 as a charity hospital, ARMC (formerly known as San Bernardino County Medical Center) opened its doors in 1999 following nearly 20 years of meticulous planning. The Medical Center, owned and operated by the County of San Bernardino, is comprised of six main buildings covering 72 acres, and is conveniently located off Interstate 10 in Colton. ARMC is one of just 19 public or “safety net” hospitals in the state providing care to all who need it, regardless of ability to pay, immigration or insurance status. It provides medical services to approximately 50 percent of the County’s population; the catchment area includes more than 40 cities and several unincorporated areas.
ARMC operates a 24-hour Emergency Department, Level II Trauma Center, Regional Burn Center and three Family Health Centers located in San Bernardino and Rialto. It offers a full range of inpatient services and patient care units, including nine medical/surgical/telemetry areas, advanced critical care, neonatal intensive care and stroke unit. ARMC’s Outpatient Care facility offers more than 60 different specialty services and an array of preventative/primary care programs designed to ensure optimum health for children and adults. ARMC also offers inpatient psychiatric care in a stand-alone facility located on the hospital’s campus.
ARMC is recognized as a top teaching hospital, with accredited residency programs consisting of more than 140 interns and residents trained yearly in 10 patient care areas. ARMC also has an accredited pharmacist training program, operating room nurse training program, School of Medical Technology for laboratory student training, and School of Radiologic Technology. In addition, student nurses who qualify can apply for a nursing assistant position at ARMC while completing their nurse’s training.
With such a wide variety of services and departments, ARMC employment opportunities are plentiful. Employment benefits include comprehensive medical and dental plans, vision plan (employees only), paid leave (vacation, sick and holiday), life insurance, medical reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, retirement and deferred compensation plans, and commuter services.
