Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC)

photoArrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) was founded as a charity hospital in 1877 with only two doctors on staff.  Today, it is a state-of-the-art facility and acute-care teaching hospital and features the latest in patient-care technology while providing care to approximately 50 percent of San Bernardino County’s population.   In a typical year, the Center treats about 125,000 individuals.  ARMC boasts a 373-bed, 950,000 square foot facility comprised of five main buildings covering 72 acres and is conveniently located just off the I-10 freeway.

The Medical Center hosts a 24-hour Emergency Department, Level II Trauma Center, regional Burn Center, Transplant services and three Family Health Centers located in San Bernardino and Fontana.   Health services range from medical and surgical care to emergency services, rehabilitation, geriatrics, behavioral health and inpatient psychiatric care, women’s health and home health care.  To better meet the needs of residents in remote areas of San Bernardino County, the Center has a telemedicine program which allows off-site clinic patients to receive specialty service consultation without driving to the facility.  The Medical Imaging Department features a state-of-the-art digital imaging system known as the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).  It is a filmless radiology system that uses computerized images for all X-rays and MRI exams.  This system is recognized by the Smithsonian Institute for the use of information technology in improving patient care.

The Medical Center offers one of the largest and most successful family medicine residency programs in the United States.  Because ARMC offers such a wide variety of ARMC Lobbyservices, employment opportunities also exist for professions ranging from food services and housekeeping, information technology, medical records, nursing, and other allied health careers.  Employment benefits include comprehensive medical and dental plans, vision plan for employees only, paid leave (vacation, sick and holiday), life insurance, medical reimbursement, tuition reimbursement, retirement and deferred compensation plans, and commuter services.
