Law Enforcement Courses

Course Description

ATV Rider Law-Enforcement
2 days (16 hours) Students will learn and be required to demonstrate ATV off-Road riding techniques in various terrains such as dirt, sand, obstacle avoidance, hill climbing, and emergency braking. Students are not required to have ATV experience to attend.

Motorcycle Basic Academy Training
10 days (80 hours) Basic motor training for the full-time law enforcement officer. Rental motorcycles available upon request. Cost for motor rental due prior to start of class and is NOT reimbursed by P.O.S.T.

Motorcycle Training Instructor
10 days (80 hours) Upon completion, students will be eligible to provide basic motor officer pre-training and develop in-service training classes for their agency. For experienced motor officers only. Rental motors available.

Motorcycle On/Off Road
4 days (40 Hours) Riding techniques in various terrains including dirt, sand, hills and obstacles for off road Law Enforcment.

Motorcycle Officer Update
1 day (8 hours ) A skills update for motor officers who have successfully completed the basic course. Rental motorcycles available.

Driver Training (EVOC) Update
1 day (8 hours) Brief refresher of basic law enforcement driving skills. Utilized by many agencies to minimize risk and reduce agency liabililty.

Driver Training Update
3 days (24 hours) An in-depth update of basic law enforcement driving. Students must have completed the basic course with peace officer status (Level I Reserves welcome).

Basic Driver Training
3 days (24 hours) Basic law enforcement emergency vehicle driving course. Utilized by basic, reserve and extended academies. Meets all P.O.S.T. basic driver training requirements.

Driver Awareness Update
1 day (8 hours) Designed to provide basic driving skills for municipal employees. (Does not include putsuit driving)

Driver Awareness Instructor
3 days (24 hours) Upon completion of this course, students will be certified to instruct the Driver Awareness Course.

Driver Training Instructor
5 days (40 hours) Upon completion of this course, students will be able to instruct P.O.S.T. driver training courses. Utilized by many agencies to develop agency driver training coordinators.

Driver Training (EVOC) Update P.I.T. - Pursuit Immobilization Technique
1 day (8 hours) Upon completion of this course, students will be proficient in the use of the Pursuit Immobilization Technique (PIT). The PIT has been used by many agencies to successfully terminate pursuits thus minimizing risk of damage, injury or death.

General Public Courses
Course Description

Advanced Defensive Driving
1 day (8 hours) Designed for the experienced driver. Actual hands-on driving in simulated conditions. Accident avoidance, emergency lane change, skid recovery, control threshold breaking, precision driving and various skills are instructed.

Teen Survival Driving Skills
1 day (8 hours) This course exceeds the basic skills taught to young drivers. Utilized by insurance companies and concerned parents alike to enhance the skills of young drivers. Hands-on instruction in simulated hazardous conditions.

Off-Road Vehicle (4X4)
1 day (8 hours) Advanced driving techniques for off-road vehicles. Students utilize their own vehicles to enhance skills in various off-road areas. Recommended for beginning and intermediate off-road drivers.

Fire & Ambulance Courses
Course Description

Fire Update
1 day (8 hours) Advanced driving techniques specifically for fire emergency response personnel. Agencies utilize their own engines and participate in various precision and defensive driving exercises.

Ambulance Update
1 Day 8 Hours Basic driver training for ambulance emergency response personnel.
