| Motorcycle On/Off Road | Intended Audience: Law Enforcement | ||||
| Students will learn and be required to demonstate Off-Road riding techniques in various terrains such as dirt, sand, obstacle avoidance and hill climbing. Students will also be required to successfully demonstrate their ability to negotiate P.O.S.T. approved cone patterns and emergency braking techniques.
Off Road Equipment Requirements: Mandatory Personal Equipment: Class M-1 license endorsement Full face DOT approved helmet Dirt bike goggles(clear) Sunglasses(clear and tinted) Off road gloves Long Sleeve shirt(training uniform or regular ORV enforcement uniform acceptable) Above the ankle boots(Hi-tech style acceptable, students may wear motocross style boots for dirt riding) Personal hydration system(Camelback style acceptable) Knee, elbow and chest protectors are optional but recommended for dirt riding Vest Duty gun belt with duty weaponVehicle requirments: Students are required to provide their department dual sport motorcycle. Vehicles do not have to be equipped with emergancy lighting or sirens for this class. RENTAL MOTORCYLES ARE NOT AVAILABLE. It is required to be street legal with the following equipment: License plate and vaild registration Off Road Muffler Head light and tail light Mirrors Turn signals Dual-sport DOT approved tires in excellent condition(DOT approved knobby tires are acceptable) Tool kit(including: Universal tool kit, tire irons, tire patch kit, CO2 style air kit, spark plugs and wrench, bailing wire, wire cutters. **Students may carry front and rear inner tubes instead of patch kits. Certification: This course is certified by P.O.S.T. T.R.R. forms must be submitted on the first day of class. P.O.S.T. plan IV.Tuition is direct-billed to P.O.S.T. for P.O.S.T. reimbursable agencies. |
