Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T)

Reimbursement Plans:

POST reimbursement for training expenditures of departmens participating in the POST reimbursement program is based on schedules known as "plans." Each plan may vary in the amount and/or category of expenses that may be reimbursed by POST. The categories of expense/allowances that may be reimbursed are : subsistence, commuter lunch, travel, tuition, salary and training presentation costs. The four reimbursement plans have been adopted by the Commission are designed as Plan I, II, III and IV as follows:

Plan I

Plan I are courses which pay for student travel, per diem and tuition. POST will also reimburse 80% of actual time and half salary paid to the backfilling officer(s). Only courses which require an intensive instructor commitment of which are equipment intensive fall into this category if the amount earned is projected to be insufficient to cover all costs.

Plan II

Plan II pays for student travel and per diem. POSt will also reimburse 80% of actual time and half salary paid to the backfilling officer(s).

Plan III

Plan III are courses which pay for student travel, per diem and tuition. Only courses which require an intensive instructor commitment or which are equipment intensive fall into this category if the amount earned is projected to be insufficient to cover all costs.

Plan IV

Plan IV pays for student travel and per diem. Generally Plan IV courses are certified to a California Community College or other entities which have their own source of billing.

Backfill Reimbursement:

100% of Overtime to replace student length of course plus 16 hours over time for students who attend on days off.
