Community Youth
Organizations
Community Youth Organizations are in a unique
position to influence kids in a friendly, interactive
environment. You may also connect with parents
more frequently than teachers do. Our Campaign’s evaluation study showed that involving the community, including youth organizations, increased children’s fruit and vegetable consumption twice as much as working with just schools. The Network for a Healthy CaliforniaChildren’s Power Play! Campaign provides free nutrition and physical activity educational materials to qualifying* community youth organizations (CYO’s). Materials can be used by afterschool programs, summer programs, clubs, faith-based youth programs, and other organizations that bring children together outside of school hours.
