The senior nutrition program, initiated by the Older Americans' Act, provides nutritious meals and some related services to assist senior citizens to maintain independent living with dignity. Some major goals are to improve the nutritional status and overall well being of senior citizens, to encourage social interaction and reduce isolation through group dining experiences, and to help guide seniors to other available services.
Noontime group meals are served at various locations. At some sites, additional meals may be offered. For those who are homebound, teams of volunteers deliver nutritious, specially formulated frozen meals that can be easily heated in regular or microwave ovens.
To participate, a person must be age 60 or older, or a spouse or disabled person of any age living in the senior citizen's household. While one of the aims of the program is to reach lower income individuals, there is no income requirement. To help affirm that those who participate want this program to continue, there is a suggested minimum contribution per meal.

You Can! Steps to Healthier Aging
The You Can! Steps to Healthier Aging Program is a free program provided at community senior centers throughout San Bernardino County that is open to all interested individuals. The program aims to increase the number of older adults who are healthy and active by using a partnership approach.
Curriculum
The Eat Better & Move More curriculum is designed to fit the interests and needs of older adults who want to maintain their quality of life and independence and live longer and better lives.
Eat Better focuses on topics such as fruit and vegetable consumption, calcium needs and fiber fitness. Classes in this part of the program include:
