The Anti-Hunger/Food Security Program goal is to increase the awareness of food security in the county and to improve the nutritional status of low-income residents by providing nutrition information and a hotline for quick access to food assistance services through referrals.
Target Population:
All agencies who provide food assistance services and low-income residents who need information on healthy eating and stretching food dollars,
and who need help finding emergency and/or long-term food assistance (e.g. WIC, Food Stamps, USDA Commodities).
The program:
Operates the hotline for food assistance information and referrals.
Promotes healthy eating and physical activity for families with limited time and budgets.
Disseminates:
The “Food Assistance Resource Guide" to community and governmental agecies;
“How to Establish a Network of Food Assistance Providers"; and
“Food Security in San Bernadino County Report."
