Health care professionals critically evaluate the use of popular dietary supplements (such as diet pills, vitamins/minerals, hormones, herbs) and questionable nutrition practice (such as high protein, blood type,
and food combination diets).

The group also provides input on state policy that involves the regulation of dietary supplements and nutrition services. This is a private discussion group that requires an invitation to join.

The group has been active since January 2001 and currently generates about 8-15 messages per week. The group is comprised of representatives from state and federal regulatory agencies, registered dietitians, registered nurses, medical doctors, university professors, health care professionals, and stakeholders involved with consumer protection, especially in regard to dietary supplements.

The group strives to preserve the integrity of nutrition information by discussing the scientific rationale behind the use of dietary supplements and nutrition practice for weight loss, anti-aging remedy, sport performance, and other health conditions.
