The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) is a court ordered program which implements a multifaceted approach to preventing childhood lead poisoning which includes screening, surveillance, risk reduction, primary prevention activities, interagency coordination, and services for children affected by lead. The mission of
San Bernardino County CLPPP is to eliminate childhood lead poisoning by identifying and caring for lead burden children and preventing environmental exposures to lead.

The Program:

Provides case management of all children with a blood lead level test that equals or exceeds 10 µg/dl referred to CLPPP from clinic, physician's office, laboratory, or state report.

Ensures that necessary screening
services are provided.
|

|
Coordinates prevention activities with other pertinent health, housing, and
environmental agencies.
|
|
|
Provides education of the community regarding lead poisoning prevention
measures.
|
|
|
Trains medical personnel of CDC
guidelines for the treatment and follow-up on lead affected children.
|
|
|
Developes and implements health
education outreach campaigns/materials on lead poisoning prevention.
|
|
|
Responds to complaints about
environmental lead hazards (such as peeling paint from homes built before 1978) and unsafe work practices.
