Food Security

The Anti-Hunger/Food Security Program goal is to increase the awareness of food security in the county and to improve the nutritional status of low-income residents by providing nutrition information and a hotline for quick access to food assistance services through referrals.

Target Population:

All agencies who provide food
assistance services and low-
income residents who need
information on healthy eating
and stretching food dollars,
and who need help finding
emergency and/or long-term
food assistance (e.g. WIC,
Food Stamps, USDA Commodities).
The program:
Operates the hotline for food assistance information and referrals.
Promotes healthy eating and physical activity for families with limited time and budgets.
Participates in the City of San Bernardino Food Policy Council.
Disseminates:
The “Food Assistance Resource Guide” to community and
governmental agencies;
“How to Establish a Network of Food Assistance Providers”; and
“Food Security in San Bernadino County Report.”
