Design Division is responsible for preparing the construction plans and specifications for new County Transportation improvement projects. The division is currently in the process of designing a wide variety of projects including new roadway construction, roadway widening, drainage improvements, asphalt overlays, realignments, and traffic signal installation. The Pavement Engineering Section provides pavement design services for the department and management of the pavement management database. This section insures that department personnel are trained in pavement distress reporting and develops inspection schedules that cover system roads on a two year cycle. The system generates reports that are used be the department for developing the pavement maintenance budget and long range pavement maintenance/rehabilitation strategies.
