The County of San Bernardino, County of Los Angeles, and the Cities of Adelanto, Victorville, Apple Valley, Lancaster, and Palmdale have formed a Joint Power Authority (JPA) to develop a new freeway/expressway from SR14 to I-15. The City of Victorville has received federal funds to develop a portion of this corridor from US395 to I15 and on through to SR18 and preliminary engineering and environmental studies are underway. Click on the City of Victorville Link
and the LA Metro link below for further information. The JPA will combine the many separate efforts currently underway into one combined project. Status of the project can be found on this page and by attending a variety of public and technical advisory meetings and JPA board meetings as shown below. The High Desert Corridor/E220 is officially designated in Section 1305 of SAFETEA-LU as a High Priority Corridor on the National Highway System from Los Angeles to Las Vegas via Palmdale and Victorville. |

Metro’s transportation agenda is In The Works with accelerated Measure R Highway Projects. The High Desert Corridor (HDC) is one of 16 highway projects identified by the Metro Board for acceleration under the 30/10 Initiative, and one of six potential projects under consideration for a Public Private Partnership (PPP) delivery method. Metro has partnered with Caltrans, the High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Authority and other agencies to expedite this project. The HDC proposes to construct a new 63 mile freeway/expressway connecting the City of Palmdale in Los Angeles County and the Town of Apple Valley in San Bernardino County.
Next week, Caltrans will hold Open Houses and Public Scoping Meetings for the Environmental Clearance of the HDC Project. The meetings will provide you with information about the project and your comments and suggestions will be welcome. See dates below, and visit Metro’s website at www.metro.net for more information.
