Vana Olson is the Director of the Department. She is a Registered Professional Engineer, in the
State of California, P.E. 41009. She has more than 38 years of experience in the civil
engineering field encompassing both the private and the public sectors. In addition to 28 years
with the County of San Bernardino, her employment history includes: WK Adams & Associates
of Redding; First American Title Company of San Bernardino, CG Engineering of Loma Linda,
Boyle Engineering Corporation, and LA Wainscott and Associates of Grand Terrace. Mrs.
Olson attended engineering curriculum at San Bernardino Valley College, California State
Polytechnic University at Pomona and California State University at Long Beach. Prior to her
appointment as Director, she served as an Assistant Director of the San Bernardino County
Department of Public Works for six years where she was responsible for the design and
construction of Transportation and Flood Control infrastructure improvement projects. Mrs.
Olson has served on the San Bernardino City Unified School District's Regional Occupational
Program Advisory Committee and Chairman of the National Association of Professional
Engineers "Math Counts" Program. She is a member of the State Floodplain Management
Association, the Association of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the County Engineers Association
of California. |
