The Tuberculosis Control Program performs disease detection, surveillance, chemoprophylaxis, treatment, case management, and investigatory activities designed to control the incidence of tuberculosis in the County.
The program provides tuberculosis information and educational resources for the Department, medical community, and general public.
What diseases are reportable in California and how are they reported?
Reporting of specific diseases and conditions is required by State regulations. This reporting supports local and State-wide disease surveillance, including rapid intervention when appropriate. Detailed information on reportable diseases and conditions, ordering reporting cards, laboratory reporting and other requirements can be found in the Epidemiology Program section of this web site.

Extremely urgent conditions (i.e., anthrax, botulism, cholera, dengue, diphtheria, foodborne disease, plague, rabies, and relapsing fever) should be reported by telephone immediately, 24 hours a day, seven days per week. Non-urgent conditions may be reported by telephone or mail.
