San Bernardino County Code states, “'Vector' means any animal capable of transmitting the causative agent of human disease or capable of producing human discomfort or injury, including, but not limited to, mosquitoes, flies, fleas, ticks, mites, and rats, but not including any domesticated animal.”

- Respond to citizen complaint/service requests for community control of vectors (including mosquitoes, flies, roaches, rodents, ticks, fleas, Africanized Honey Bees, etc.)
- Monitor presence of vectorborne diseases (such as encephalitis, hantavirus, plague, relapsing fever, West Nile virus, Lyme disease, etc.)
- Inspect poultry ranches and riding academies for nuisance flies and vector control
- Provide direct abatement and control of vectors in sanitary sewer systems and flood control basins
