The
goal of Family Development Program (FDP) is to assist in improving the
quality of life and standard of living of low-income families and
individuals in San Bernardino County. FDP provides an integrated range of
services designed to address emergency situations as well as long-term goals
for self-sufficiency. |
Services
- Case Management: Designated to alleviate stress and promote
parental skills to increase the ability of families to successfully nurture
their children.
- To promote
supportive partnerships between a Case Manager participant to
create positive outcomes in the areas of education, employment, and
vocational training and self-sufficiency.
- Clients must sign a case management contract
agreeing to fulfill specific terms for personal development.
- Rent/Mortgage Assistance: Rental assistance for eligible clients
facing eviction i.e. 30 days late on rent with an eviction notice or
three-day pay or quit notice. Rental assistance towards new move-in
cost is available. Security deposits and credit checks are NOT
available services.
- Clients must have an income exceeding the
amount of rent due.
- Clients seeking rental assistance must receive a
three-day pay or quit and/or eviction notice and must be behind 30 days or
more on monthly payments.
- The Rental Assistance call-in dates are the last Monday of each month
at 8:00 a.m. The number of calls accepted is dependent upon funding

- Emergency Assistance: Provided to individuals
and families meeting criteria who are experiencing an unexpected crisis situation.
Assistance includes food assistance, bus passes and shelter assistance.
- FOOD, RENTAL, SHELTER
- TRANSPORTATION
- MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES
(diapers).
- Primarily ALL services require justification of the
emergency with written documentation that the client has made an honest
effort to contact other sources such as DPSS.
- Transportation Assistance: Assistance for transportation in the
form of bus vouchers for eligible participants.
- Transitional Housing: The Obershaw House Transitional Housing
Project provides temporary affordable housing families as they
make the transition from homelessness to stability.
Residents of Obershaw House work with a Case Management to set goals
and work toward acquiring employment and permanent housing.
- Children's Programs: CAPSBC sponsors
various fun activities for low income children.
Eligibility
All Services require the following documentation:
- Must be a resident of San Bernardino County
- Proof of income (documentation provided must be within the last 30 days)
- Social Security cards for everyone in the household
- Picture I.D.
- Must have documentation of emergency
