Traffic and Minor Offenses


Overview

    Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court hearing's are for person's cited before their 18th birthday. After turning 18 years old, Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court continues to have jurisdiction over the citation. The most common violations filed: all Vehicle codes, except felonies and drunk driving. Also, all infractions and laws related to loitering, traffic, curfew, petty theft, trespassing, disturbing the peace, and some alcohol and drug violations.

Minor's Information

When the peace officer issues the citation the case is forwarded directly to the Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court nearest to the minor's residence address for filing. If you have received a Notice to Appear (citation) the minor (under 18) and parent/guardian must appear on the date and time on the citation or as notified by the Court or face the possibility of the loss of his or her privilege to drive for failure to appear.

Dress Code

The dress code is strictly enforced. Shorts, bare midriffs/feet and undershirts worn without an outer shirt, or gang attire will not be allowed in the Hearing Room.

Confidentiality

Because of the confidentiality of all Juvenile matters, the court will only call one case into the hearing room at a time. Therefore, the wait to go into the hearing room may be lengthy. It is best NOT to bring small children with you to court. Availability of these records is restricted to certain court personnel, the minor, parents or guardian and other persons designated by the Presiding Judge of Juvenile Court.

Directions

San Bernardino: Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court is located at 175 West Fifth Street in San Bernardino. From the 215 Freeway traveling through San Bernardino, exit the Fifth Street off ramp heading east, make a right on Mt. View, the building is located on the south-east corner of Fifth and Mt. View. The parking entrance is on Mt. View. The entrance to Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court is on the first floor adjacent to the parking area.

Rancho Cucamonga: Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court is located at 9567 Arrow Route, Building 1, Suite E in Rancho Cucamonga. From the 10 Freeway, exit Archibald Avenue, heading north, to Arrow Route, make a left on Arrow Route go to the third driveway on the left, Business Center Dr (left). First building to your left.

Victorville: The Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court is located at 14455 Civic Drive at the Victorville Courthouse. Enter the building at the Anthony Piazza Wing (north west wing).

Barstow: Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court is located at the Barstow Courthouse, 235 East Mt. View Ave, Barstow.

Joshua Tree: Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court is located at the Joshua Tree Courthouse, 6527 White Feather Road, Joshua Tree.

Traffic School

You may not attend traffic school without first getting approval from the court. You may have the option of attending traffic school if you have not attended traffic school in the past 18 months, have a valid driver's license and not more than 1 moving violation on this citation. If you are eligible and decide not to attend, your automobile insurance may be adversely affected.

Failure to Appear/Pay

If you fail to appear in court as ordered on the citation or by the Juvenile Court Officer or you fail to pay a court ordered fine, a Failure to Appear or a Failure to Pay hold will be placed on your driver's license at Department of Motor Vehicles. This will suspend your driving privilege until you appear in court or pay the fine. Please contact Informal Juvenile and Traffic Court for information.
