FAMILY LAW FACILITATION CENTER

The Family Law Facilitation Center has been established to provide no cost assistance to parties who are representing themselves in the area of family law by offering information and assistance with court documents and procedures. The Family Law Facilitation also helps parties resolve disputes by providing mediation services in the areas of child support, spousal support and health care and insurance.

At this time we are unable to provide further assistance by phone and ask that customers come to one of our offices during business hours for assistance.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS

The Family Law Facilitation Center provides educational materials regarding:
    • How to obtain, change or enforce child and /or spousal support orders.
    • What legal forms are needed to file with the Court.
    • How to establish parentage.
    • How to prepare for a court hearing.
    • How to file for a dissolution of marriage.
    • How to file for a legal separation.
    • How to file an action for domestic violence.
    • Flow charts for a contested, uncontested or default case.

SERVICES PROVIDED

The Family Law Facilitation Center provides the following services:
    • Assistance in the preparation of court forms.
    • Computerized child and spousal support calculations.
    • Assistance in the preparation of Order after Hearing, Waiver of Court Fees and Wage Assignments.
    • Answers to family law and procedural questions.
    • Mediation of child support, spousal support and health care issues.
    • Help in consolidating related actions.
    • Referrals to sources of help within the community.

LOCATIONS

Out of state customers may contact the Family Law Facilitation Center/Resource Center through the mail. We no longer provide phone service for anyone, as a courtesy to those persons who travel to our Centers. You may email us for assistance at childsupportselfhelp@courts.sbcounty.gov. The Resource Center/Office of the Family Law Facilitator is available to help both parties who have questions about child support issues and how to proceed with a legal action regarding these issues. The Family Law Facilitator is not your attorney and no attorney-client relationship is created as a result of any information or services provided to the party by the Family Law Facilitator and/or staff. This means that communications are not privileged and that services may be provided to both parties to a case.

You should consult with your own attorney if you want personalized advice or strategy, to have a confidential conversation, or to be represented by an attorney in court.
