The usual reason for this type of problem is the selection of a print device that is not configured properly for handling PDF files. Your System Administrator should be able to configure a local printer for your use that is capable of handling these types of files.
The Online Site provides a search option available from the search button
located in the top-left corner of the browser window -
.
When you select this button you are provided with a text window in which you may
enter a search string. You are also provided with options on how to proceed with
your search and an overview of the search capabilities and options located in
the large frame on the right.
The Online Search capability is provided by a third party software package called dtSearch. This program is designed to run on all ISAPI compliant Web Servers like IIS. If your search fails you should first try running it again. If that doesn't work try restarting your browser and then perform the search. If the problem persists contact the Web Master or to the ISD support hotline.
This highlighting of text at the completion of a search is governed by the Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is a non configurable feature in the reader.
Unfortunately, no. The search capability is provided by a third party tool called dtSearch. Currently, this product does not provide a configuration capability for the expressions that you generate in your search strings. We hope that this is not a significant inconvenience.
When you submit a search request to the Web Site you are presented with a
list of PDF documents that contain the text you were searching for. This list
appears in the left-most frame of the browser window. When you select one of
these documents its PDF contents will be displayed in the frame on the right
with each 'hit' highlighted. Along the top of the PDF document is a series of
PDF menu items. The ones on the right (
)
can be used to continue the current search or start a new search using the Adobe
PDF search capabilities. To move to the previous or next highlighted hit you
merely need to select one of the two button options on the right. To start a new
PDF search you must first select the large binocular icon and enter a search
string. Subsequent findings can be located using the small binoculars icon.
Use the PDF magnifier -
. Click it
once and then click in your document until the desired font sized is found. If
you click and hold on the magnifier icon you will be able to select the
demagnifier icon and subsequently reduce the font size.
Yes. If the browser is open, close it. Start the Adobe Acrobat Reader via the Windows Start menu or its program icon. Under the File menu item select Preferences and then click on General. In the magnification section set the Default Zoom value as desired. Close Acrobat and reopen the browser. Return to this Web Site and beginning viewing the documents.
The PDF text tool (
) allows you to
use the mouse cursor to select a range of text for copying. Once a range of text
has been selected you can copy and paste it into Word, notepad, etc.
If the Acrobat Reader freezes up you may need to kill the running Acrobat or browser process using Ctrl-Alt-Del. This action allows you to select the Windows Task Manager where you can select the process you need to close, Acrobat or browser. If you can successfully kill the process (or processes) you should be able to retry your access to the County Code. If you are still having trouble with this problem try contacting your System Administrator before contacting ISD. Your System Administrator might be able to determine if the problem is associated with your computer or with the County Code Web Site itself.
The County Code Web Site may not function the same across all browser types. In particular, there are some known disadvantages in using earlier versions of both Netscape (<3.0) and Internet Explorer (<4.0). These disadvantages are often documented on-line by the browser vendors. In many cases these problems can be annoying and inconvenient but do not prevent the County Code site from providing its content for viewing. If these problems are intolerable you might consider contacting your local System Administrator to update your current browser configurations to a newer version. If you don't have a System Administrator you can report your problem to the Web Master or to the ISD support hotline.
There are two ways to report problems. You can send an e-mail to either the Web Master or to the ISD support hotline. Please try to include any or all of the following pieces of information:
