San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department: Countywide Gun Buy Back Program

On Saturday, June 1, 2013, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. the San BernardinoCounty Sheriff’s Department in partnership with Barstow, Chino, Colton, Fontana, Montclair,Ontario, Redlands, Rialto, San Bernardino and Upland Police Departments will be participating inthe first countywide Gun Buy Back Program.

The countywide Gun Buyback Program will reward voluntary surrender of firearms, while engagingour communities towards a common goal of reducing gun violence. It is an anonymous process inwhich individuals can surrender their weapons, no questions asked.

Weapons should be unloaded and transported in the trunk or rear area of the vehicle. There is nolimit to the amount of firearms that can be turned in by individuals. Persons will be given a $50.00gift card for inoperable weapons; up to $100.00 in gift cards for hand guns, shotguns and rifles; andup to $200.00 in gift cards for assault weapons (as classified in the State of California). All giftcards will be for Stater Bros. Markets throughout the county.

Once a firearm is surrendered to the Gun Buy Back Program it becomes property of the lawenforcement agency and will not be returned.

Funding for this program was provided by California State, Proposition 30 – Schools and LocalPublic Safety Protection Act of 2012
