    Born and raised in San Bernardino, Mike Burrows was recently appointed the Acting Executive Director of IVDA, an agency responsible for the redevelopment of the former Norton Air Force Base. 
    "The base has been a part of our family forever," Burrows said. "I remember being at my grandma's house seeing C-130s flying overhead. It's part of your upbringing."

    Affordable Bloomington community project secures $1.5 million

    Construction will move forward on a 190-unit affordable housing community thanks to nearly $1.5 million in tax credits approved today by the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee. The tax credits were awarded to the first phase of the community which includes a new County library and community center. Construction is projected to begin early 2015.     Now growing: the future of agriculture at our County Museum

    On Sept. 19, the County Museum opened the Aquaponics Exhibit, a collaborative community garden project built by The Incredible Edible Community Garden, Serving Proud Industries and their local partners. The exhibit utilizes a highly sustainable method of growing that cycles (fertilized) water from a fish tank over a series of plants that digest the fertilizer.  Click here for a video explaining aquaponics.
